Basic Terminology
Note
Characteristic odour. Is used to indicate the tone of a fragrance in any of the 3 phases of the same: Top, Middle or Base.
Top Note
The first impression a fragrance leave right after being applied.
Middle Notes
Comes from the central character of a fragrance, also known as heart note.
Base Notes
Final phase of a fragrance, less volatile components.
Mouillette or Blotter
Strips of an absorbent paper used to smell the fragrances and study them over their different phases.
Durability
The ability of the fragrance to retain its essence for a certain period of time.
Armonía
Aplicado a las fragancias, se refiere a aquellas que reflejan unidad, acorde y orden.
Harmony
Applied to fragrances, refers to those that reflect unity.
Character
Dominant note of a fragrance.
